Privacy policy

The short version
Xpurge does not collect your data. Your posts, your filters and your record of what was removed stay on your own computer and are never sent anywhere.
If you subscribe to Pro, the extension sends your licence key to our payment provider to check that it is valid. That check sends your licence key and a random installation number. It does not send your name, your email address, your X handle or anything about your posts.
We have no server of our own, no account system and no analytics.
What the extension reads
To do its job, Xpurge reads the posts shown on your own X pages while you are signed in. For each post it reads the text, the date, the like, repost and reply counts, whether it has a photo or video, and the post's ID. It uses these to decide whether a post matches the filters you set.
If you import an X data archive, the extension reads the posts and likes recorded in that ZIP file. Xpurge reads the file inside your browser without uploading it.
What the extension stores, and where
Xpurge keeps the following data in its storage on your computer:
- Your settings, meaning the filters, protections and pacing options you chose.
- A record of what was removed, if you leave the backup option turned on. Each record contains the fields listed above so you have a copy of the removed post.
- An activity log of what the extension did during a run.
- Your licence key, if you subscribe to Pro, along with the date it was last confirmed, which plan you are on, and the email address you subscribed with.
- A random installation number, generated by your browser the first time you activate a licence. It is not derived from anything about you or your computer, and it exists only so the licence can be counted against the number of browsers it allows.
- Any posts read from an archive you imported, until you clear them.
None of this is transmitted, apart from the licence check described below. You can delete all of it at any time from the extension's own settings, or by removing the extension, which deletes its storage with it.
The licence check
Dodo Payments processes your payments, issues your Pro licence, renews your subscription and checks whether the key is still valid.
When you enter a licence key, and roughly once a week afterwards, the extension sends two things to live.dodopayments.com: your licence key and the random installation number described above. Nothing else is sent, and nothing about your posts, your account or your filters is involved.
When you first enter the key, Dodo's reply says which plan you subscribed to and the email address you subscribed with. The extension stores that email so it can show you which account your Pro subscription belongs to, and the plan so it can show which one you are on. Neither is sent anywhere else, and removing the licence deletes both. It stores no end date, because a subscription does not have one. Later checks are answered with nothing more than whether the key is still valid.
Xpurge saves the result of each successful check. If a later check cannot connect, Pro stays active for up to two weeks after the last successful check.
The free version never makes this request, because there is no key to check.
Dodo Payments handles the data it receives under its own privacy policy. We do not receive your card details at any point.
What we never do
We do not collect, transmit, sell or share your content. We do not use analytics, trackers or advertising. We do not read or store your X password, and the extension never asks for it. We do not use your data to build profiles, train models, assess creditworthiness or for lending. Beyond the licence check above, the extension contacts no site other than x.com and twitter.com.
Xpurge's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Permissions and why they exist
Access to x.com and twitter.com lets Xpurge read your posts and use the delete controls on those pages.
Access to live.dodopayments.com exists only to check a Pro licence key. It is never contacted by the free version.
Storage, including unlimited storage, keeps your settings and your record of removed posts on your own computer. An account with years of history can produce tens of thousands of records, which is more than the default allowance.
Payment
Payment is handled by Dodo Payments, who are the merchant of record and whose privacy policy covers the transaction. They collect what they need to charge you and to meet their tax obligations, including your email address, which is where your licence key is sent. We do not receive your card details.
Children
Xpurge is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
